Find what you are looking for, fast!

aflatune now has a better way to browse through the library of albums, songs and playlists.

Click on playlists and you will see all playlists at a glace -

image

And check out our spiffed up experience when browsing through albums and tracks. You will be able to quickly apply filters to get to what you are looking for. While you are browsing, also notice the nice page titles like ‘Hindi albums from year 2008’.

image

Some of our users told us that the filters (i.e. ‘Language’, ‘Browse by’, ‘Year’, ‘Page’, etc) look cluttered and somewhat confusing. We have improved the spacing for the filters and have added dotted lines to separate them visually. We hope these changes make filters easy to use.

As always, tell us what you think!

Player queue improvements

image

  • Album title appears in the listing along with the track title. Just click on the album title to open the album and check out what else is in that album.
  • You can hold the updown arrow symbol and drag it to move the item up or down
  • As always, you can click the ‘x’ to remove the item

We love the way the queue looks now. Clean, colorful and functional. Do you have any ideas to improve it further? Tell us at http://aflatune.com/#feedbacks/new.

Now Telugu, Marathi and Hindustani Classical too…

We heard you! Now aflatune has regional content from Telugu and Marathi as well. We are continuously expanding the library so tell us if you want to listen to anything specific and we will add it! Look for the ‘Language’ filter when you are browsing through the albums/tracks -

image

And search results show content from different languages as well -

image

We are especially proud of our Hindustani Classical collection. There you will find rare gems such as live recordings from the Sawai Gandharv festival (http://aflatune.com/content/Sawai_Gandharwa). You can search for your favorite classical artist’s name. For example, search for ‘Rashid Khan’ and here’s what you will get (http://aflatune.com/#/home/list?q=Rashid%20Khan) -

Happy listening!

aflatune is live!

Howdy folks?

It is our pleasure to invite you to aflatune.com. Visit, listen, see, enjoy!

You will see why we are so excited about the site. It is built differently from any other music portal out there.

- First thing you will notice is that there is no clutter, no popups, no distractions. You can simply press Play and enjoy today's chart toppers - go try it out! It can't get any easier than that.

- If you have some song in your mind, just type its name in the search box. You don't even have to press enter! Your search results appear as you type the query. You will see albums, videos and songs in the search results. Now that's a refreshing change from a typical web site, don't you think?

- Make playlists. Share them. Simple.

- You can browse YouTube videos on aflatune *faster* than browsing them on YouTube! No, we are not making this up, it is the truth. Why go to YouTube when you can get to the same content quicker from aflatune, make playlists and watch entire video playlist in full screen (unlike YouTube that goes back to normal view for each video in the list)?

We can go on and on about why aflatune is sooo aflatoon (I mean amazing), but we don't want to get between you and aflatune. See you there!

Meet our mascot!

Howdy all?

It is not easy to come up with a logo/mascot that represents all that a project is about. We knew we didn't want anything overly Indian looking, say like Taj Mahal or the flag, yet we wanted something that has a subtle Indian touch. We also knew that it has to appeal to the young and the young at heart. And after going through dozons - actually more like 100 - designs, we found exactly what we were looking for.

Presenting (drumroll...) the new mascot for aflatune (more durmroll...) -

Subtly Indian (elephant!), hip & trendy, happy but with an attitude! Isn’t he cute? :)

What say y'all? BTW, he hasn't been named yet. Hint, hint!

The journey starts here!

Hi all,

We will be launching aflatune.com soon... What's that, you ask? In short, it is an online music experience like never before, made especially for all the Indian music lovers out there. Some cool things that you might notice right away would be -
  • search and browse through our music library with web 2.0 application style UI (think gmail)
  • add songs to playlist while music playback is on (no more popup audio players)
  • play both audio tracks (from aflatune music library) and videos from YouTube in the same (!) playlist
  • easy to use live (search as you type) search
  • aflatune remembers your playlist after you close the browser so you can continue listening next time (it even remembers what song you were playing!)
  • and much more...

It has been an exciting experience bringing all this coolness together and there's a whole lot more on the horizon to look forward to!

Sign up for our launch mailing list on http://aflatune.com and join us on this journey!
